WELCOME TO BAM, CRACKLE, DOT!

Discover the Art of Mahjong

Marnie divides her time between Atlanta, GA, during the week and Franklin, NC, on weekends.

A recently retired university professor and a 40-year veteran of private psychotherapy, she discovered mahjong earlier this year while taking lessons with close friends-and immediately fell in love with both the game and the social connection it creates.

Marnie soon launched Bam, Crackle, Dot! Mahjong Open Play, serving the Brookhaven, Chamblee, and Dunwoody communities. The group is thriving, with players of all skill levels coming together to learn, play, and enjoy the camaraderie of the game.

Spending much of her time in the Northeast Georgia and western North Carolina mountains, Marnie is also excited about introducing mahjongg to those communities. In addition to teaching and organizing play, she currently has three custom tile sets and mats in production, which will soon be available on her website.

When not playing Mahjong or designing new tile sets, Marnie spends much of her time giving back to her community. She walks dogs for an overcrowded shelter, teaches English to the children of migrant workers, and loves spending time with her family and friends.

Marnie is happily married to her best friend, Chris — a concert audio touring engineer who has spent the last 40 years traveling the world with legendary artists including U2, Michael Jackson, James Taylor, Gloria Estefan, Barbra Streisand, Elton John, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, and many more. Chris retires this December.

Marnie is incredibly proud of her son Harrison, who holds a Doctorate in Pharmacy and an MBA. Harrison works in pharmaceutical writing, research, and branding — and will now be managing Marnie’s Mahjong social media pages.

Marnie is also the proud mom of her late son, Ty, who tragically passed away in an accident in 2016 at age 19.

Marnie and Chris have been lifelong parents to English Springer Spaniels — and are currently “managed” by Peaches (named after the Allman Brothers’ Eat a Peach album) and Georgia (named after the Boz Scaggs song, and a shared love for the Georgia Bulldogs). They enjoy hiking to waterfalls in the North Georgia and Western NC mountains, love cooking together, and are looking forward to exciting upcoming travels.

10% of all Bam, Crackle, Dot! sales will be donated to the Alexander Tinsley “Ty” Flynn memorial scholarship at Camp Rockmont in Black Mountain, NC. Both Harrison and Ty were campers and later, counselors at Rockmont and loved their ten summers spent there.
